Legacy .NET Modernization Audit
A fixed-price, one-week review of your aging .NET system. You get a clear report on its risks, where to take it and what it would cost, without committing to a rewrite.
Is this audit for you?
A good fit if…
- Your system is built on WebForms, VB.NET, .NET Framework or SQL Server with logic in stored procedures.
- It still matters to the business, but adding features is slow or risky.
- Hiring or keeping people who want to work on it is hard.
- Deploys make everyone nervous, or one person is the only one who really understands it.
- Parts of the stack are out of support.
Probably not if…
- The system is not .NET, or another team is already migrating it.
- You want a quote without sharing the code.
- It is a very large or multi-application estate (those are quoted separately).
What you get
System map
Modules, dependencies, integrations and database, in one clear diagram.
Prioritized risk report
Security, unsupported versions, technical debt and SQL performance, each finding with severity and evidence.
Target architecture
Where to go and why, without a big-bang rewrite.
Phased roadmap
What to migrate first and how, designed to minimize downtime.
Effort and cost estimates
Ranges by phase, with the assumptions written down.
60-minute walkthrough
I present the report and answer your questions.
How the week works
- Before day 1 A 30-minute scoping call, an NDA, read-only access to the code and a copy of the database without sensitive data.
- Day 1 Code, build, dependencies and versions.
- Day 2 Architecture, critical flows and the database.
- Day 3 Security, performance and technical debt.
- Day 4 Target architecture, roadmap and estimate.
- Day 5 Final report and a 60-minute walkthrough call.
What I need from you
- Read-only access to the repository (or a zip) and an environment where it builds.
- A backup or the schema of the database, without sensitive data.
- A technical contact available for 2–3 hours during the week.
- Your 3 main pain points with the system.
Price and terms
From USD 2,000, fixed.
Under NDA, with read-only access. The report is yours to keep, with me or anyone else. If we continue together within 30 days, the audit fee is credited toward the project.
Paid 50% upfront and 50% on delivery. It covers one main application and its database; larger or multi-application systems are quoted separately. The audit does not include implementing changes.
Questions about the audit
How long does it take?
One working week from the moment I have access to the code and the database.
What happens to my code and data during the Audit?
I sign an NDA first, work with read-only access, and don’t keep a copy when the Audit ends.
Do I need to rewrite my whole system?
Almost never. Most legacy systems can be modernized in phases while they keep running.
Do you also do the migration?
Yes, as a separate project. If we continue together within 30 days, the audit fee is credited toward it.
Can I use the report with another provider?
Yes. The report is yours to keep, with me or anyone else.
