Legacy .NET Modernization Without a Full Rewrite

I move aging .NET systems to a modern, maintainable platform in small, safe steps, so the business keeps running while the code gets better.

Signs it is time to modernize

  • Adding a feature takes weeks and often breaks something else.
  • Deploys are manual, rare or nerve-racking.
  • Parts of the stack are out of support: old .NET Framework versions, unsupported servers or third-party controls.
  • One or two people really understand how it works.
  • It is hard to hire people who want to work on it.

How I modernize without stopping the business

  1. Understand Map the system, its risks and the flows that earn money, before touching anything.
  2. Protect Add tests around the critical behavior, so every change can be checked.
  3. Modernize in slices Replace or upgrade one module at a time: framework versions, WebForms pages, data access, deploys.
  4. Keep shipping Each step goes live on its own. No big-bang cut-over.

I use AI-assisted development to move faster, and every change is reviewed and tested.

What you get

A target architecture and roadmap

Where the system should end up, and the order to get there.

Working increments in production

Real improvements you can use, not a plan on paper.

Tests around the critical paths

A safety net that stays with the code.

Documentation your team can use

How it works, how it is deployed and what to watch.

The database is part of the job

In old systems a lot of the logic lives in SQL Server: stored procedures, triggers and reporting queries. I review the schema and the slow queries, and decide what to keep, tune or move into code, always with tests around it.

Where to start

From USD 2,000, fixed.

The Audit is a one-week review of your system: risks, target architecture, a phased roadmap and a cost estimate. You decide what to do with the report.

Experience

  • More than 20 years working with .NET, including the WebForms, jQuery and VB.NET era at HotelDO.com (2005–2014).
  • At HotelDO.com I built and maintained the core booking and CMS systems of a major online travel agency, used by thousands of people every day.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to rewrite the whole system?

Usually not. Most systems can be modernized module by module while they stay in production. A full rewrite is the exception, and I will tell you when it really is the better option.

Can the system stay online during the work?

Yes. Changes go live in small steps, so there is no big-bang cut-over and each step is easy to verify.

Which technologies do you work with?

ASP.NET WebForms, VB.NET, .NET Framework, SQL Server and the modern .NET platform (ASP.NET Core). I have worked with .NET for more than 20 years.

Where do I start?

With the one-week, fixed-price Audit. You get a report on risks, target architecture, roadmap and cost, and you decide what to do next.
